On July 21st, 2010 at Revival Bar on College, I celebrated my 40th birthday with a bit of a twist.

I used the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for victims of the earthquake in my homeland of Chile. Partnering with Habitat for Humanity and their project in the small town of Curepto we set a goal of $40,000 to be raised, to build homes for families who have been left quite literally, in the dust and living in tents since Feb 27, 2010.

At the event with 200+ attendees we raised over $9,000 and brought the funds raised total to just over $20,000. Half way there! 100% of funds raised go directly to Habitat for Humanity, all expenses were borne by myself and my sister (see events page for pics and video!).

I have been referring to the event as Phase Two of my fundraising efforts, Phase One being the funds raised before the event. Phase Three involves flying to Chile to document the lives of the people affected and the rebuilding of their homes by Habitat for Humanity. With this documentary in hand we will pursue other avenues of raising awareness and funds.

I am happy that we've come this far and more motivated than ever to continue.

My Habitat for Humanity donation page will remain live until I reach my goal, and if you are able. please give generously. Donations generate official tax receipts.

Thank you for visiting. Please check out the Documentary and Media pages for video updates and pictures.

Sincerely,
Carlos
